“I will never be a better lover of anyone than I am a lover of God.  I am more human and most like Jesus, most reflecting my true identity when I am engaged in worship.”  With those truths Brian Cooper closed our first session at the BFC Young Adults Retreat.

Fifty young adults spent this past weekend at Pinebrook in the Poconos rejoicing in God and learning to worship Him better.  We looked at worship in dark times in life as well as drawing our pleasure in life from God alone and not false imitations.  We spent time reading the Scriptures together and getting a much bigger picture of who this God is we say we worship.  And of course we spent some good time singing and praising God, led by the Crossroads Band from Grace BFC in Wallingford.

It was a great weekend to just hang out in god’s creation and to have lots of fun together!  We played games, listened to music and skits, sat around a campfire sharing stories, and just enjoyed a time away with other young adults from around the BFC.

There were 18 of us from Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Wallingford, where I serve as a pastor.  It was a wonderful time of bonding and of growing together in the Lord.  For me it was a good weekend of focusing on the enormity and loving kindnesses of God.  I was also challenged, thinking about places in my own life where it is easy to loose focus, either concentrating on the struggles of life, or looking other places for pleasure.  I came away with a renewed desire to make time to  meditate on God’s greatness, worshiping and enjoying Him alone.
