Community Dinner

Join us on Sunday October 16 for our Community Dinner. We will be gathering together around the table for a night of food and friendship. We plan to begin the meal at 6:30 in place of our normal Crossroads. All are welcome. This is a great night to invite your friends!

We could also use 2 people to help with set up at 6:00 and a few others to help prepare food. For setup contact Mark Bickel, for food contact Naomi Wagner.

Crossroads Fall Kick-off

Sunday Worship – 6:30 PM

Join us for our fall kick-off for Crossroads this Sunday, Sept. 11 at 6:30. Full worship band, a look “Thru God’s Eye” at how to live “Life in the REAL World“, and a meal together to wrap up the night. It should be a great night of worshiping God, looking into His word, and catching up with friends. It is also a great week to come check things out if you have not been around for a while.

You are also invited to join me for prayer for Crossroads and for Revival at 5 pm each Sunday in the room directly acrross from the normal crossroads room.

Sports – Monday at 6:00

Join us in the gym at Grace for a new round of sports for the fall. We will be playing a variety of sports in the months to come, likely starting with Basketball. Contact Dan Cowen for more information.

Bible Study and Prayer – Thursday at 8:00

This week we are starting off the fall with an OPEN FORUM night where you can come with any questions, comments, passages of scripture you wish to ask or share. We will also be discussing some specific topics we could study for the fall. And of course we will leave some good time for sharing what God is doing in your life and praying for one another.

International Student Picnic

Come on out Saturday Sept. 3 from 4-7pm for a picnic with some of the international students at Widener!

Join us for a traditional American picnic, complete with Hamburgers, Kosher Hot Dogs, Bar-B-Q Chicken, Corn on the Cob, and all the fixin’s.

Location: Washington Park (edge of campus- Melrose between 17 &18)

Cost / RSVP: FREE, advance reservation helpful but not required

In Case of Rain: at Interfaith Center (1700 Walnut across from Kirkbridge)

Summer of Prayer

This summer was our Summer of Prayer. We looked at prayers in the Old Testament at our Thursday Bible Study and prayers in the New Testament at our Sunday Evening Worship.

Young Adults on Mission

It is exciting to see many of our own young adults stepping up to reach out with the Gospel around the world. Over the past few months four have been approved as 1 year and Career Missionaries, with several others planning short term missions trip. Below is a snapshot from each person on where God is calling them. We would encourage you to sign up to get their newsletters, pray for them, and consider supporting some of them financially.

Crossroads Important Alerts

This Sunday, Aug. 14, Crossroads will meet AT CHURCH

Due to the forecast rain and thunderstorms for all day and evening Sunday Crossroads will meet at 6:30 at Grace Bible Fellowship Church in room 204 instead of Rose Tree Park (even if there is no rain when we would meet, the park will likely be too wet to be comfortable, so let’s plan to stay dry!). We will have a time of worship and then continue looking at prayers in the New Testament, this week looking at prayers for boldness and spiritual warfare. Please spread the word.

Thursday, Aug. 18, at 8 pm Crossroads Planning Time

In place of our normal Crossroads Bible Study this week we will have a planning time to put some things in place for the fall. We will discuss how things have gone this summer, brainstorm on larger vision for crossroads, look into the Bible for God’s direction for the coming year, and nail down some specific themes and dates for the next few months, concluding with prayer for the fall. Even if you don’t normally come on Thursdays we would invite you to join us for this special meeting. If you can not attend I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, critiques, etc. Please mail me at mbickel@gracebfc.org , preferably before Thursday so I can include your thoughts in our discussions.

DCYA Ultimate Frisbee

Join other churches in the area for Ultimate Frisbee this Friday, August 5. Here are the details from Tim Slothhower:

I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying your summer!

Just wanted to send out the details for the upcoming Young Adult Fellowship  Ultimate Frisbee event on Friday August 5th. We will meet at Collingdale Park  (which is near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Hibberd Avenue in  Collingdale, PA) and play from 6:30pm until dark.

This is a rain or shine event,   so feel free to bring a friend and enjoy a game of ultimate frisbee.
